The 30-Day Green Smoothie Challenge + A New Smoothie Recipe!

Hi Everyone!

Today I’m posting a review of a challenge I recently completed, the October 30-Day Green Smoothie Challenge. This challenge is run every few months by a blog called Simple Green Smoothies. Millions of people have taken the challenge, and I know for a fact that it is a really fun experience! Basically, for 30 days, your goal is to drink a green smoothie every day, or for as many days as possible. At the beginning of the challenge, I thought it was going to be extremely difficult, and I thought I would forget a few days. However, this challenge really wasn’t that complicated, and drinking my green smoothie for breakfast made remembering even easier. Plus, you can freeze jars/bags of individual smoothie ingredients to save time in the morning. I’m now finding after the challenge that I’m missing my daily green smoothie, so I’m still making them for breakfast. 🙂

It is a great experience, and if you are new to real food this is a great first step! For example, I convinced my dad to do this with me, and he loved it! He drank a smoothie for most of the days, and seemed to really like them. It was fun to have someone to do the challenge with, so I definitely recommend doing this with a family member or a friend. It may seem like a big commitment to drink a “scary green drink” every day for 30 days, but trust me, it’s a really fun, healthy challenge that makes breakfast in the morning rush pretty simple!

I’m going to share with you one of my favorite new recipes I created myself from the challenge (another great aspect of this challenge- you can be creative and aren’t told what you can/can’t make!). Simple Green Smoothies provides you with some recipe ideas for the challenge, but it can be pretty fun to get creative and come up with some on your own! Morning Energy Green SmoothieServes Two


  • 2 cups leafy greens (I like to use baby spinach)
  • 2 bananas (riper is best)
  • 1 cup frozen pineapple or mango (preferably organic)
  • 2 tbs. chia seeds
  • 2 tbs. rolled organic oats
  • 1 cup coconut water (add a splash of organic orange juice if desired)


Add leafy greens and coconut water to your blender. Blend until there’s a juice-like consistency, and add in fruit, chia seeds, and oats. Serve right away in a mason jar or take in a to-go cup to school or work. Enjoy your breakfast! 🙂
